Then...Now...Looking Ahead
Then
ETAC color concepts began its journey as an artist colorant literally hundreds of formulations ago. The first product was produced back when airbrushing tee-shirts and tags was becoming popular among the Florida crowds and other tourist areas. At the time the inventor was using solvent based and water based chemistry and worked for Barwick International in latex and polymers formulating up to 30 tons of various materials per batch that were used in industrial applications for coatings and backings as well as doing on-site testing and line QC. Later he moved on to colors and dyes working in a dye house for Bigelow/Sanford Industries. After some frustration trying to find a paint for airbrushing back in those days he decided to produce his own, a new product was born that later became internationally known.
Now
Presently ETAC is a board-run project instead of a sole proprietorship with an investment partner and a committee of 6 board members who all have a working role. Our board meets bi-monthly to discuss QC, distribution and product advancement through research and development. The ETAC Private Stock line is a ready to use multi-substrate product that reduces the need for overstocking seldom used colors. Unlike the competition ETAC offers a ratio mixing chart to obtain unique colors, reducing overall waste. This strategy offers the artists the same opportunities often found in quality oil based products where mixing can be accomplished using colors that are pure and clean. This advanced formulation has built in modifiers to enhance most any project uses its own system process components to adjust for special needs artistry. AFX 500 'special effects' materials is a fine example where our Fx 500 pigments are mixed with ETAC Private Stock often at a 3:1 ratio for adding FX colors back to the ready to use colorants. Please read our technical information sheets to get the complete coverage on how this works. Our goal is to establish great relationships with our artists and distributors and focus our energy on improving those relationships via personal service and attention to detail. This is seen with our already established Quality Control program. ETAC is careful to not inventory stock or add materials that won't be totally usable and that offer synergistic latitude to interchangeable materials, meaning all our products work in conjunction with one another. We currently have 32 products and are constantly looking to improve any areas that will provide the end user with a totally usable product for the specific use of airbrushing as their choice of art media.
Looking Ahead...
Our future, of course, cannot be predicted but our past adventures have proved effective and viable for what we do. We believe first we must insure our quality remains steadfast and that our performance market products see great development as we move forward. The AFX 500 line is already showing outstanding results and at this point is considered a base product that we will work with and develop based on the needs of artists. Our intent is to offer quality, safety, and great UV capability as well as to continue being a people oriented business where we add a face to our product. We expect to know as many artists as possible and while it is impossible to continue to have a one to one relationship at all times, we know we could place our materials with top notch distributors that are well versed in art materials and that are able to represent our line of materials at their best. The future looks great, we look forward to providing you, the customer. years of great service. None of our products have been endorsed by paid artists or market ploys. Our peers chose us through random selection via our sampling process where we sent paints to 50% of artists we know are experienced and would make good comparisons. 25% of that budget was set aside for special requests via our peer groups that picked their own artists and we sent them paint and they reported without bias to their groups. The last 25% were random artists from all walks of life that were sent samples on a first come, first served basis. What we got was a near perfect score from all sources on all levels making this truly a revolutionary colorant picked by the artists themselves. We put great value in that and are very thankful for the time and attention everyone gave to us.
